The European Union and Ukraine have signed a drone deal to boost joint production of drones, combining Ukraine's battlefield expertise with Europe's industrial capacity. The agreement was announced by International — European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Kyiv on Ukraine's Statehood Day. Ukraine currently produces 10 million drones per year and aims to double that output. Funding will come from the €90 billion EU support loan and the SAFE defence programme. The deal allows drones to be built and stored across EU territory. This is the first EU-wide agreement, following similar bilateral deals with individual countries.
