Huawei launched its next-generation Smart String Grid-Forming ESS Platform, LUTERRA, at Intersolar Europe in Munich, Germany. The platform features industry-leading round-trip efficiency of 93.1%, high-precision SOC control, and a dual-stage 1000Vac architecture using silicon carbide components. It reduces delivery time by at least 30%, BOP costs by at least 20%, and footprint by 1 sqm per MWh. The technology has been proven in the world's largest 100% renewable energy microgrid at The Red Sea in Saudi Arabia, operating stably for over two years. Huawei's grid-forming technology supports six capabilities: inertia, short-circuit level, primary frequency regulation, power oscillation damping, black start, and on/off-grid switching. The platform targets utility-scale and C&I storage deployments, addressing grid stability challenges as renewable energy penetration increases.
