WBBA launches AI-Net certification

On July 15, 2026, at the Asia-Pacific Broadband Development Summit (BDS) in Bangkok, the World Broadband Association (WBBA) officially launched AI-Net, a globally authoritative data communications certification for countries and operators worldwide. The certification aims to guide global networks from connectivity-driven to intelligence-driven architectures, accelerating the transition from the 'All-Cloud' to the 'All-Intelligence' era. AI-Net focuses on three pillars: national policy guidance, collaborative industry ecosystems, and Net5.5G penetration rate. It evaluates both macroeconomic (policy alignment, standards contribution) and microeconomic (operator network intelligence via IPDI) dimensions. The certification also extends to data center networks and security systems. WBBA Director General Martin Creaner elaborated on the certification's dual core values: 'Network for AI' and 'AI for Network'. The initiative seeks to build global consensus among policymakers, standards organizations, and operators to construct an 'AI-ready' network foundation by 2030.
