The Philippines, through the Department of Finance (DOF), secured a $6.78 million technical assistance grant from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) under the Third Readiness and Preparatory Support Program (RPSP 3). Approved on June 24, 2026, the 60-month program makes the Philippines the first country in Asia-Pacific to access GCF readiness support under the fund's second replenishment period (2024-2027). The grant aims to strengthen the country's capacity to access, develop, and implement climate investments aligned with the National Adaptation Plan and the Nationally Determined Contribution Implementation Plan. It will enhance inter-agency coordination, build a project pipeline, and improve monitoring systems. The Global Green Growth Institute serves as delivery partner, with UNDP and GIZ as co-implementers. The DOF is also preparing a second proposal for up to $3 million in additional grant support.
