Seegene launches Global Million Clinical Study

Seegene Inc., a global molecular diagnostics company based in Seoul, South Korea, announced the launch of the Global Million Clinical Study (GMCS) on July 15, 2026. The large-scale initiative aims to establish clinical evidence supporting a shift from conventional virus-centered testing to comprehensive syndromic PCR testing that simultaneously detects both viral and pneumonia-associated bacterial pathogens. Using its STAgora analytical platform, Seegene analyzed approximately 260,000 pediatric respiratory PCR test results from children aged 0-5 years over 42 months. The analysis found that 78% of virus-positive cases also carried pneumonia-causing bacteria, and 88% of bacteria-positive cases also had viral pathogens. Comprehensive testing showed a 96% positivity rate, with 82% of positive results detecting at least two pathogens. The study, beginning in August 2026, will generate real-world evidence across diverse healthcare settings worldwide.
