This investment highlights growing interest in innovative hemostatic therapies. While SelSym is preclinical, the partnership may accelerate development of SymClot, potentially impacting the trauma care market.
Persephoni BioSciences, a global venture creation platform, announced that SelSym Biotech, a preclinical-stage company developing biomimetic therapies for hemorrhage and wound care, has joined its portfolio. SelSym's lead product, SymClot, is an injectable biomaterials-based therapeutic designed to mimic natural platelets. The investment marks SelSym's first equity financing and will support advancing SymClot toward clinical milestones. SelSym will operate out of Persephoni's Clinical Impact Studio in Research Triangle Park. The science originated from Dr. Ashley Brown's lab at North Carolina State University and has been validated in animal models.
