The US United States — Federal Reserve, under newly appointed Chairman Kevin Warsh, has established five independent task forces to review its monetary policy framework. Former State Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan has been appointed to the Balance Sheet Policy task force, alongside Harvard economist Karen Dynan and former Fed Governor Jeremy C. Stein. Harvard economist Raj Chetty will co-lead the Data task force with former Walmart CEO Doug McMillon and University of Chicago economist Ken Murphy. Microsoft executive Asha Sharma has been named to the Productivity and Jobs task force alongside venture capitalist Marc Andreessen and Stanford economist Charles I. Jones. Other task forces cover communications and inflation frameworks, with members including former United Kingdom — Bank of England Governor Mervyn King, Nobel laureate Thomas J. Sargent, and former Iraq — Central Bank of Iraq President Arminio Fraga. The panels will operate independently and submit recommendations to the United States — Federal Open Market Committee later this year. Warsh stated the initiative aims to bring fresh perspectives after years of elevated inflation.
