The delisting may reduce the number of registered entities in Nigeria, potentially affecting business confidence and regulatory compliance costs. However, the impact is limited as most affected companies are likely inactive.
The Nigeria — Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria has commenced Batch 6 of its enforcement exercise to strike off 100,000 companies from the register for failing to file annual returns and provide beneficial ownership information, as required under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020. Affected companies have 90 days to comply or face deregistration without further notice. This is part of ongoing efforts to clean up the corporate register and enhance transparency.
