ACLU report on ICE use of force

The American Civil Liberties Union released a report documenting widespread use of force by U.S. United States — United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers during the first year of President Donald Trump's second term. The report analyzed over 1,200 immigration enforcement operations across eight states from January 2025 to the end of 2025, finding that nearly a third involved use or threat of force. It documented over 400 instances of pushing, tackling, or pinning, and similar numbers of weapon use including chemical irritants, rubber bullets, and tasers. Dozens of potentially deadly tactics like neck restraints were also recorded. The report comes after two fatal shootings by ICE officers in Texas and Maine within a week, killing Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Joan Duran Guerrero, and a third death in Florida. In response, ICE paused nonurgent traffic stops, but President Trump called for their continuation. Experts cited insufficient training and supervision as contributing factors.
