The disbursement is a positive signal for Nigeria's non-oil export sector and women entrepreneurship, potentially boosting export competitiveness and job creation. However, the relatively small scale of the grants limits immediate market impact.

The Nigeria — Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NEPC) has facilitated the disbursement of $710,000 (approximately N979.8 million) in grants to 128 women-owned export-oriented Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) under the Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) Fund. The fund is a joint initiative of the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), with financial support from the United Arab Emirates, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Legacy Fund, and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Nigeria was selected as one of only four beneficiary countries globally, alongside the Dominican Republic, Jordan, and Mongolia. The grants include Discovery Grants of $5,000 each for 121 businesses and Booster Grants of $15,000 each for seven businesses. Beneficiaries also participated in capacity-building programs covering export readiness, digital trade, e-commerce, branding, and financial management. The initiative aligns with Nigeria's Renewed Hope Agenda to promote non-oil exports and women's economic empowerment.
