President John Mahama announced on July 16, 2026, that the government has selected a strategic investor to revive Volta Star Textile Limited in Juapong, Ghana — Volta Region. The investor will visit the factory to begin modernization. Ghana is also negotiating a memorandum of understanding with Benin to secure cotton supplies. The announcement was made during a sod-cutting ceremony for a new 24-hour market in Juapong, part of a nationwide program. Mahama also addressed compensation for Akosombo and Kpong dam spill victims and progress on a delayed bridge project.
