The integration enhances cross-border investment flows between the Middle East and Africa, potentially increasing liquidity and market access for investors. ADX and BSE stand to benefit from expanded investor bases and trading volumes.
The Nairobi Securities Exchange (ADX) Group and the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) signed an agreement for the BSE to become the first African exchange to join the Tabadul hub, a cross-border trading and market connectivity platform. The signing ceremony was held in Abu Dhabi on July 10, 2026, attended by Neo Mooki, Chairperson of the BSE, Aobakwe Aupa Monyatsi, CEO of the BSE, and senior leadership from both exchanges. Under the agreement, the BSE becomes the 11th member of Tabadul, establishing mutual market access between the Middle East and Africa. Tabadul connects markets with over USD 1 trillion in combined market capitalization, over 700 listed companies, and more than 11 million registered investors. The BSE, founded in 1989, is Botswana's only stock exchange and Africa's third largest by market capitalization, with 33 companies, 121 bonds, and eight ETFs. It surpassed P1 trillion in total market capitalization for the first time in May 2026. Tabadul's trading value reached 13.5 billion dirhams in 2026, exceeding the total for 2025.
