On July 16, 2026, the India — Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs approved the operational guidelines for the PARIVARTAN Scheme, a government program to replace older, polluting trucks and buses in the National Capital Region (NCR) with BS-VI compliant or electric vehicles. The scheme, with a total outlay of Rs 9,585 crore (including Rs 5,041 crore central budgetary support), was approved by the Union Cabinet on June 3, 2026. It offers incentives such as motor vehicle tax concessions, registration fee waivers, 5% interest subvention on loans, minimum 8% OEM discounts, monthly fuel vouchers, and one-time financial assistance for electric vehicles. Implementation will be led by the India — Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, funded through the India — National Capital Region (India). States of India — Rajasthan, India — Haryana, India — Uttar Pradesh, and India — Delhi have issued notifications for tax concessions and fee waivers. Eleven OEMs, representing over 95% of the commercial vehicle market, have signed MoUs to provide discounts.
