The initiative is expected to strengthen Nigeria's innovation ecosystem, potentially boosting research commercialisation and attracting investment in technology and education sectors. However, its impact on financial markets is likely to be gradual and indirect, with limited immediate effect on listed companies or indices.

Education Research and Development Technology

The Federal Ministry of Education, through its Nigeria — Research, Innovation and Commercialisation Committee (RICC) and in collaboration with the Nigeria — Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), is conducting a series of six zonal workshops across Nigeria to accelerate the commercialisation of research and innovation. The workshops, held in Port Harcourt, Enugu, Jos, Gombe, Kano, and Lagos, bring together policymakers, researchers, academics, industry leaders, investors, and other stakeholders to develop strategies for transforming research outputs into commercially viable products and enterprises. Key proposals include the National Commercialisation Intelligence System (NCIS) and the National Research-to-Commercialisation (R2C) Initiative, which aim to create a unified digital platform connecting researchers, industry, investors, and policymakers. The initiative is part of Nigeria's broader effort to diversify its economy and enhance competitiveness in the global knowledge economy.
