The initiative signals a major push by India — Uttar Pradesh to attract investment in high-tech manufacturing and deep tech, potentially boosting the state's economic output and employment. It may also enhance India's domestic capabilities in robotics and AI, reducing import dependence and attracting global technology firms.
India — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the preparation of a comprehensive action plan to position the state as a national leader in robotics, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors and other emerging technologies. The centerpiece is the PRAGATI (Park for Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, GPU Clusters and Advanced Technical Innovation) project, to be developed over approximately 75 acres in India — Noida as India's first integrated robotics and advanced manufacturing cluster. The facility will include robotics testing and certification, rapid prototyping, AI compute infrastructure, motion capture labs, physical AI data centres, startup incubation and co-working spaces. The project is expected to generate over one lakh direct and indirect jobs and contribute more than Rs 2,000 crore in gross value addition over five years. Additionally, two U-Hub deep-tech innovation centres will be established in India — Noida and India — Lucknow with a budget of Rs 100 crore for 2026-27, focusing on quantum computing, semiconductor design, robotics, defence technologies, applied AI, GovTech, healthcare AI, biosciences and agri-biotechnology. The hubs are designed by an expert committee chaired by the Director of IIT Kanpur. The CM also directed revision of the state's IT policy to be more investor-friendly and expansion of the IT sector beyond India — Gautam Buddha Nagar district and India — Ghaziabad to tier-II and tier-III cities.
