The India — Election Commission of India (CCI) dismissed a complaint filed by Goutam Mohanta against Reliance Industries — Jio Ltd and over 4,500 other companies across multiple sectors, including telecom, logistics, India — Government e-Marketplace (GeM) procurement, energy, FMCG, and healthcare. The complaint alleged anti-competitive agreements and abuse of dominant position under Sections 3 and 4 of the Competition Act, citing coordinated conduct such as price alignment, exclusionary practices, and bid-rigging. The CCI ruled that the allegations were generic, speculative, and unsupported by evidence, noting the complainant failed to provide documentary proof or identify specific roles of the accused parties. The regulator stated that mere similarity in tariff plans in an oligopolistic telecom market does not indicate an anti-competitive agreement. The order was passed by a coram comprising Chairperson Ravneet Kaur and Members Sweta Kakkad and Deepak Anurag.
