ActionSA Challenges SAPS Phala Phala Findings

South Africa — ActionSA has announced it will approach the International — High court in Pretoria to challenge the South Africa — South African Police Service's (SAPS) disciplinary findings that cleared Major General Wally Rhoode and Brigadier Hennie Rekhoto over their conduct during the investigation into the 2020 Phala Phala farm burglary. The party obtained the disciplinary records through a PAIA application and claims the process was a 'whitewash' that ignored evidence from the South Africa — Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) and the South Africa — Public Protector. South Africa — ActionSA also plans to push for parliamentary scrutiny, including placing the records before the Section 89 Committee investigating President Cyril Ramaphosa's conduct. The South Africa — African Transformation Movement has welcomed the court challenge.
