DSS rescues kidnapped professor Okunsebor

Professor Samuel Okunsebor, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, was kidnapped by armed men on Wednesday at Mile Uku, a border community between Lafia and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Areas in Nigeria — Nasarawa State, Nigeria. The United States — United States Department of State (DSS) conducted an intelligence-led operation and rescued Okunsebor at about 3 p.m. on Friday. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the abduction. After rescue, Okunsebor was handed over to his family in the presence of Deputy Vice Chancellor Kitso Ngbargu and taken to Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital for medical examination. The university management expressed gratitude to the DSS. This incident follows a similar kidnapping of three students from Federal University of Lafia a month earlier, raising concerns about insecurity around tertiary institutions in the state.
