On July 17, 2026, Hanwha Philly Shipyard (HPSI) and TOTE Services were selected by the U.S. United States — Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to build the Missile Range Instrumentation Vessels (MRIV), including the first vessel named 'Golden Defender'. The contract was announced by United States — Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought at the christening of the NSMV Lone Star State in Philadelphia. The MRIV will replace aging vessels Pacific Tracker and Pacific Collector. TOTE Services will serve as vessel construction manager, and HPSI will build the ships at its Philadelphia yard using the proven hull form and workforce from the NSMV program. The first MRIV is scheduled for delivery in 2030. The award supports the Trump Administration's Golden Dome for America initiative and aims to rebuild U.S. maritime industrial base.
