The launch signals increased competition in India's premium LPG market, potentially pressuring margins but driving innovation. BPCL's expansion to 100 cities may boost its market share in the segment.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) launched Bharatgas Lite ZIP, a premium LPG service offering instant new connections and express delivery, built around the lightweight Bharatgas Lite composite cylinder. The service was launched in India — Mumbai by Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Khanna and Director (Marketing) Subhankar Sen. BPCL plans to expand the service to 100 additional cities across 24 states by August 15, 2026. The launch follows a similar initiative by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) in partnership with Zomato — Instamart for on-demand LPG cylinder delivery. This move intensifies competition among state-run oil marketing companies in the premium LPG segment.
