Ebola outbreak attacks in Congo

At least a dozen attacks on health facilities and workers have been recorded during the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, primarily in Democratic Republic of the Congo — Ituri Province. The attacks, often by angry mobs, have forced aid workers to relocate to Democratic Republic of the Congo — Bunia, complicating the response to the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak on record, with 2,181 cases and 864 deaths. Many health workers have gone on strike over unpaid salaries. The United Nations expressed concern over escalating violence. The outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo virus, for which there is no approved vaccine or treatment.
