Cyclospora outbreak linked to Taylor Farms lettuce

A multistate outbreak of cyclosporiasis in the United States, first reported in May 2026, has sickened over 1,600 confirmed cases with thousands more under investigation. The U.S. United States — Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States — Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identified shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms, supplied to Yum! Brands — Taco Bell restaurants in five Midwestern states, as a likely source. Taylor Farms voluntarily recalled iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico, and Yum! Brands — Taco Bell removed the affected ingredient from its supply chain. Walmart and Sysco also took precautionary measures. On July 19, the FDA announced that a positive test for cyclospora in a Taylor Farms lettuce sample was a false positive, but the recall and investigation continue. No deaths have been reported.
