Wangchuk's wife challenges hospital confinement

Sonam Wangchuk, a climate activist, has been on a hunger strike since June 28 over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and student deaths linked to the NEET paper cancellation. On July 19, India — Delhi Police forcibly took him to Safdarjung Hospital on the 21st day of his fast. His wife, Gitanjali Angmo, filed a petition to transfer him to a private facility, but Justice Mini Pushkarna of the India — Delhi High Court refused interim relief on July 19, ruling that the government's action was not arbitrary and that doctors would decide his treatment. On July 20, Angmo appealed this order before a Division Bench, arguing it violates Wangchuk's rights to bodily autonomy and informed consent. The appeal seeks to set aside the order and allow Wangchuk to choose his own hospital and treatment.
