Paninian India Private Limited, a Bengaluru-based deeptech startup, unveiled the Yantur 4.5 kN Turbofan Engine Programme on July 20, 2026. The engine is India's first privately developed turbofan in its class, designed to power the Svayatt L1 long-range autonomous cruise missile platform for the Indian Ministry of Defence's Make-I programme for the Long-Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM). The programme has completed conceptual and detailed design and is progressing to subsystem testing and certification. Paninian has filed five patent claims covering engine architecture, combustor design, compressor technology, digital-twin health monitoring, and advanced manufacturing. The company is initiating a USD 3 million funding round to accelerate testing and validation. The programme aims to establish sovereign Indian capability in compact turbofan propulsion, complementing DRDO's efforts.
