The milestone de-risks Lundbeck's bexicaserin program, potentially boosting investor confidence. Positive results could open a large unmet need market in DEEs, with no approved therapies across all subtypes.
Lundbeck announced that the last patient has been randomized in the DEEp OCEAN Phase III trial evaluating bexicaserin for seizures associated with developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs). The global trial enrolled over 350 participants aged 2-65 years across diverse DEE syndromes. Headline results are expected by end of Q4 2026 or Q1 2027. Bexicaserin has received Breakthrough Therapy Designation from the U.S. FDA and China for DEEs. Recruitment for the companion DEEp SEA trial in Dravet syndrome is progressing well.
