India — Tripura Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar, a 1994-batch IPS officer, was found dead inside his office at the state police headquarters in Agartala on July 20, 2026. Preliminary reports indicate a suspected suicide, with some sources reporting he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound or was found hanging. He was rushed to Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital, where he was declared dead. Chief Minister Manik Saha and Chief Secretary Jyoti Kumar Sinha visited the hospital. An investigation is underway.
