India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has onboarded nearly 55.49 crore users as of June 2026, processing a record 24,161.69 crore transactions worth Rs 314.23 lakh crore in FY2025-26, according to data shared by the government in Parliament. The transaction volume has grown more than five-fold from 4,595.61 crore in FY22. The government, State Bank of India (RBI), and India — National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) have introduced enhanced security measures including risk-based transaction limits and the Comprehensive UPI Information Security Framework (CUISF) 2025. National Payments Corporation of India — National Payments Corporation of India Ltd. (NIPL) is expanding UPI and RuPay globally, with live services in 12 countries including recent additions Greece, Nepal, and Cambodia.
