King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH) performed the world's first liver transplant using a single-port robotic system on a six-year-old boy with Wolcott-Rallison syndrome. The child's father donated the left lobe of his liver. The procedure was successful with no complications. Prof. Dieter Broering led the surgical team. This milestone builds on KFSH's 2023 fully robotic liver transplant and over 1,700 robotic living-donor liver resections. KFSH was ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and 12th globally among academic medical centers for 2026, and recognized as the most valuable healthcare brand in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East by Brand Finance.
