The launch of Morph Tachyon could increase competition in the Layer 1 blockchain space, potentially attracting trading volume and developers to the Morph ecosystem. It may also boost the visibility and adoption of Morph and its associated projects like PopDEX.
Morph, a blockchain network incubated within the Bitget ecosystem, has launched Morph Tachyon, a new independent Layer 1 blockchain purpose-built for high-performance onchain trading. The launch expands Morph from a single general-purpose network into a connected financial ecosystem, with the existing Ethereum Layer 2 continuing to handle payments, stablecoins, and open finance while Tachyon provides a dedicated environment for trading. Tachyon features target block times of 200 milliseconds, throughput up to 200,000 transactions per second, instant finality with no block reorganisations, a gas-free trading experience, and EVM compatibility. PopDEX, a trader-first decentralised perpetual exchange, has chosen Tachyon for its trading infrastructure. Renna Ba, Head of Ecosystem at Morph, highlighted the importance of dedicated infrastructure for trading. Additional ecosystem partners are expected to be announced in the coming months.
