The Karnataka government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe alleged large-scale encroachment of over 290 acres of government and public land by the Art of Living and its affiliated entities in and around Kaggalipura village, Bengaluru South taluk. The SIT, headed by Regional Commissioner Amman Aditya Biswas, will investigate allegations that the foundation systematically occupied government grazing land through lease agreements, gift deeds, and other transactions, including expired leases and potentially fraudulent documents. The probe follows a India — Karnataka High Court directive and a survey that prima facie revealed encroachments. The SIT is to submit its report within three months.
