The European Union and Oman signed an agreement on July 21, 2026, to establish a permanent EU diplomatic mission in Muscat. The agreement was signed by Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi and EU High Representative Kaja Kallas. The mission, alongside Oman's accredited mission to the EU in Brussels, aims to deepen cooperation across sectors including technology, energy, logistics, banking, minerals, infrastructure, food and water security, maritime security, and training. Both sides reaffirmed commitment to multilateralism and regional stability. The EU already has bilateral cooperation arrangements with other Gulf Cooperation Council members.
