Venezuela's health ministry reported three deaths from confirmed hantavirus infections in Venezuela — Anzoátegui state, ruling out person-to-person transmission. Two additional deaths of health professionals in Venezuela — Barinas state are under investigation and not linked to the Venezuela — Anzoátegui cases. The outbreak is separate from a prior hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius cruise ship, which the CDC and WHO have declared over. The Netherlands cleared the ship for operation after final inspection.
