TGS Orphan3D PSDM Phase 2 Reprocessing
Analysis based on 8 articles · First reported Jul 22, 2026 · Last updated Jul 22, 2026
The project is a routine investment in seismic data reprocessing, unlikely to significantly impact broader markets. It may modestly enhance TGS's competitive position in the energy data sector and support future exploration activity offshore Canada — Newfoundland and Labrador.
TGS has commenced Phase 2 of the Orphan3D pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) reprocessing project offshore Canada — Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The project will upgrade approximately 13,300 km² of 3D seismic data using advanced Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) and proprietary imaging workflows to improve subsurface imaging, structural definition, and reservoir characterization. The reprocessed data targets key Cretaceous and Jurassic exploration intervals and is expected to support prospect evaluation and exploration planning. Early products are expected in 2027, with final delivery in Q3 2027. The project is supported by industry funding and reinforces TGS' commitment to the region.
