The Nigeria — Nigerian Navy uncovered nine illegal refining sites with 23 dugout pits in Nigeria — Bonny Local Government Area of Nigeria — Rivers State, containing an estimated 104,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil. The operation, conducted by Forward Operating Base Bonny under Operation Delta Sentinel, also neutralized five newly excavated pits and recovered eight refining pots and three storage tanks. This follows a separate operation by the Nigeria — Nigerian Army that dismantled 14 illegal refining sites and arrested 62 suspects across the Niger Delta. The efforts aim to combat crude oil theft and protect Nigeria's oil infrastructure.
