A new study led by NYU Langone Health researchers found that exposure to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup herbicides, during mid-pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of spontaneous preterm birth. The study analyzed urine samples from 1,450 women and found higher glyphosate levels in mid-pregnancy linked to higher odds of preterm birth before 37 weeks. The research was published July 14 in Environmental Pollution and funded by the United States — National Institutes of Health. The findings add to evidence of health risks from glyphosate exposure, which is widespread in the US population.
