The positive data positions Ribo's vortosiran as a potential best-in-class antithrombotic therapy, likely boosting investor confidence and stock valuation. The novel siRNA approach could disrupt the anticoagulant market if approved, impacting competitors developing small molecule FXI inhibitors.
Suzhou Ribo Life Science Company and its subsidiary KC Pharmaceuticals announced positive results from a Phase 2a study of vortosiran (RBD4059), an siRNA therapy targeting Factor XI, in patients with chronic coronary artery disease. The study achieved a 92% mean maximum reduction in FXI activity with no major bleeding events, supporting every three to six months dosing. Ribo has initiated the ORBIT-XI program including Phase 2b trials to advance toward Phase 3 development.
