Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar) and Japan's Denso Corporation signed definitive agreements to establish two joint ventures for developing, manufacturing, and marketing electric and hybrid powertrain systems. One JV (Denso 51%, Sona Comstar 49%) will focus on high-voltage liquid-cooled traction inverters, motors, and generators for four-wheelers and commercial vehicles. The second JV will cater to two- and three-wheelers: Sona Comstar will transfer its existing electric traction motor business to a subsidiary, then Denso will acquire a 49% stake at an enterprise value of ₹1,750 crore, with Sona Comstar retaining 51% and management control. Both companies will license IP to their respective majority-owned JVs. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.
