The initiative is unlikely to have direct short-term market impact but signals growing government investment in AI education, potentially benefiting technology partners like Alphabet Inc. and Intel through increased adoption of their tools in schools. Long-term, it may enhance India's AI talent pool, positively affecting the technology sector.

Education Technology

Punjab has become the first state in India to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a mainstream subject from Class 1 to 12. The India — Assam Higher Secondary Education Council will roll out the curriculum in phases under the 'Sarbat.AI' project. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains launched the project with former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia. Phase I covers Classes 8-12, integrating AI into Computer Science; Phase II expands to Classes 1-7. The curriculum is aligned with UNESCO's Ethical AI Framework and draws from practices in Singapore, Finland, UAE, and US. Technology partners include Alphabet Inc., Intel, Canva, Amazon — Amazon Web Services, Neeev AI, and FA-AI. The program will benefit 25,172 schools and 31.5 lakh students, with 12,424 Computer Science teachers initially trained. Bains stated Punjab is moving from the Green Revolution to the AI Revolution.
