Bashir Mohammed, a 31-year-old British-Pakistani man, was sentenced at United Kingdom — Manchester Crown Court (Crown Square) for preparing terrorist acts. He assisted 2025 Manchester synagogue attack in conducting reconnaissance on the India — National Defence Academy (India) in Shrivenham, Swindon, on 14 August 2025. Al-Shamie later carried out a fatal knife attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue on 2 October 2025, killing Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby before being shot dead by police. Bashir pleaded guilty to preparation of terrorist acts and was arrested at Manchester Airport on 27 November 2025. The court heard that Bashir and Al-Shamie shared extremist jihadist views and planned an attack on the defence base, though Bashir was not involved in the synagogue attack. The sentencing hearing concluded with Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb presiding.
