Fraudsters are becoming more efficient, with median fraud session length down 32% and median transfer value up 1.7x. Web browser-based fraud declined 10%, indicating a shift to mobile channels. Over 850,000 mule accounts were detected across 700+ bank branches in 2025. Total cyber-fraud complaints reached Rs 22,496 crore. Banks, the State Bank of India, the India — Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre, and law enforcement are collaborating to combat fraud.
