Nigeria's House of Representatives adopted a resolution on July 22, 2026, calling for a National Drone Industrialisation Policy to strengthen domestic defence manufacturing. The motion, sponsored by Hon. Ademorin Kuye, urged the Federal Government to provide structured financial support to indigenous drone manufacturers including Briech UAS, Terra Industries, Elites Group, Proforce Defence Limited, and the Nigeria — Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) through the Bank of Industry and Nigeria — Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). The House mandated several committees to develop the policy, pursue technology transfer agreements with international manufacturers, establish Defence Industrial Zones, and review relevant laws. The resolution cited security threats from Boko Haram and Islamic State – West Africa Province (ISWAP), which have deployed commercial drones against Nigerian troops. The committees have four weeks to report back.
