SEA-H2X submarine cable commercial launch

On 22 July 2026, the Southeast Asia-Hainan-China — Hong Kong (SEA-H2X) international submarine cable, led and invested in by China Mobile, completed system acceptance testing and launched commercially. The cable spans approximately 5,746 km with eight fiber pairs and design capacity exceeding 200 Tbps, connecting Hainan, China — Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore. China Mobile, as the largest investor, secured over 100 Tbps of dedicated bandwidth and operates the Network Operations Center. The cable aims to support AI-era computing power interconnection, reduce latency between China and Southeast Asia to 30 milliseconds, and integrate with existing submarine cable systems to create a cross-continental corridor. The project is part of China Mobile's efforts under the Belt and Road Initiative to enhance digital infrastructure and support overseas expansion of Chinese enterprises.
