The U.S. Department of Education launched civil rights investigations into five medical schools over alleged racial discrimination in admissions, expanding President Donald Trump's campaign against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The probes target Dartmouth College Geisel School of Medicine, East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Western University of Health Sciences, and William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine. The department did not provide specific evidence. The schools have stated they comply with laws and will cooperate. This follows the Supreme Court's 2023 ruling against affirmative action and parallel DOJ investigations into 15 medical schools.
