The system is being jointly developed by Osaka Metropolitan University, K.K. DNAFORM, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo — National Institute for Biomedical Research (INRB) of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The project leverages DNAFORM's GenPad platform, a portable isothermal nucleic acid amplification platform designed for use in outbreak settings. The GHIT Fund's investment is intended to accelerate early development milestones in line with the 100-Day Mission, which aims to deploy medical countermeasures within 100 days of identification of a pandemic threat. The World Health Organization had declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on May 16, 2026 due to the outbreak.
