The launch strengthens Sygnum Bank's position as a leading B2B crypto infrastructure provider in Europe, potentially increasing its client base and revenue. For Banca dello Stato del Cantone Ticino, it enhances its digital offering and may attract new customers, though the immediate financial impact is modest given the bank's regional focus.
Banca dello Stato del Cantone Ticino, the cantonal bank of Switzerland — Ticino, Switzerland, has launched regulated cryptocurrency trading for its clients through an integration with digital asset bank Sygnum Bank and banking software provider Avaloq. Clients can buy, hold, and sell Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Solana directly from the bank's existing web and mobile banking apps. Sygnum Bank provides trading execution and institutional custody, while Avaloq's core banking platform enables the API integration without a separate order management system. Banca dello Stato del Cantone Ticino joins over 25 financial institutions on Sygnum Bank's B2B network, which now reaches more than a third of the Swiss population. The launch follows Sygnum Bank Europe receiving a MiCA license from Liechtenstein's Financial Market Authority, allowing expansion into the EU. This move reflects a broader trend of Swiss banks integrating digital assets into traditional banking infrastructure.
