External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held separate bilateral meetings with Brunei's Foreign Minister Prince Abdul Mateen and Papua New Guinea's Foreign Minister Justin Tkatchenko on the sidelines of ASEAN-related Foreign Ministers' meetings in Manila on July 23, 2026. Discussions with Brunei focused on bilateral cooperation, emerging technologies (AI, drones, digital), and strengthening engagement under ASEAN in line with India's Act East Policy. With Papua New Guinea, talks centered on bilateral cooperation through the Forum for India–Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC), with India offering support for development, capacity-building, and maritime security of Pacific Island Countries. Jaishankar also attended the ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers' Meeting, East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers' Meeting, ARF meetings, and the Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting, where Quad members reaffirmed commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific and support for ASEAN centrality. Additionally, he met Sri Lanka's Vijitha Herath, Bangladesh's Khalilur Rahman, and EU's Kaja Kallas on the sidelines.
