SC defers Supertech twin towers refund hearing

The India — Supreme Court of India deferred by three months the hearing on a plea seeking refunds for homebuyers of Supertech Limited's demolished twin towers in India — Noida. The bench, comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, noted that efforts are ongoing to satisfy claims of homebuyers who did not opt for alternative allotment. The court granted three months to explore options. Homebuyers' lawyer stated that refunds have not been received, with the last payment made in 2024. The twin towers were demolished on August 28, 2022, following a Supreme Court order for violating building norms. Supertech Limited is undergoing insolvency proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, and the court had earlier directed pro-rata refunds from the amount deposited by the Interim Resolution Professional.
