The House of Representatives Committee on Federal Character, chaired by Idris Wase, has ordered the immediate suspension of all recruitment activities by the Nigeria — Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) due to the persistent refusal of its Executive Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, to honour legislative summons. The committee also threatened to invoke Sections 88 and 89 of the Nigerian Constitution to compel compliance. The Nigeria — Federal Character Commission (FCC), led by Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, was also absent from the meeting and was directed to suspend recruitment waivers granted to the NRS. The dispute stems from allegations that NRS appointments violated the Nigeria — Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, with a suit filed by the Incorporated Trustees of Patriotic Youth Organisations of Nigeria at the Nigeria — Abuja High Court challenging the legality of five Executive Director appointments. The defendants include the Nigeria — Presidency of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, the Nigeria — Attorney General of the Federation, and the NRS.
