The leadership transition provides stability and continuity, which may reassure investors, but the narrowed revenue guidance and slight earnings miss temper positive sentiment. The appointment of an insider with deep domain expertise in AI and energy transition aligns with industry trends, potentially supporting long-term growth.

Infosys, India's second-largest IT services company, announced the appointment of Ashiss Kumar Dash as CEO Designate, effective immediately, with a planned transition to CEO and Managing Director on April 1, 2027, succeeding Salil Parekh. Dash, a company veteran with over 30 years at Infosys, currently leads the energy vertical and has held senior roles across customer-facing businesses, delivery, and global operations. The board, led by Chairman Nandan Nilekani, emphasized the need for a leader who can drive AI-led transformation while preserving Infosys' values and customer trust. The company also narrowed its FY27 revenue growth forecast to 1.5%-3.0% from 1.5%-3.5%, citing cautious client spending amid AI disruption. Quarterly results showed revenue rose 14% to 482.11 billion rupees, slightly missing analyst estimates, while net profit rose 12.2% to 77.69 billion rupees, also slightly below expectations. AI services now account for 8.2% of revenue, up from 5.5% in the previous quarter. Large deal bookings stood at $3.6 billion. Dash's appointment is for a five-year term starting April 1, 2027, subject to shareholder approval. He is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and completed the Global Leadership Program at Stanford University, and serves on boards of several Infosys subsidiaries and external organizations.
