The contract is a positive development for ABL Group, securing revenue through 2028 and enhancing its reputation in the region. For Santos and Oil Search, it supports the development of critical infrastructure for Papua New Guinea's oil and gas exports.
ABL Group, an energy and marine consultancy, has been awarded a contract by Oil Search (PNG) Limited, a subsidiary of Santos Limited, to provide marine warranty survey services (MWS) for Papua New Guinea's first offshore floating storage and offloading (FSO) facility. The FSO will be deployed at the Kumul Marine Terminal as part of the Kutubu Pipeline System, storing crude oil and condensate while associated gas feeds the PNG LNG Project. ABL's scope includes overseeing pipe load-out in India, Indonesia, and the UK, as well as pipelay, mooring installation, and hook-up offshore PNG. The project is led by ABL's Australian office with support from offices in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the UK, and is expected to run through 2028.
